Looking for inexpensive fun?

Many of OWL's friends have been trying geocaching—a large scale treasure hunt the whole family can enjoy. If you have a portable GPS system you have everything you need to get started! Learn more at www.geocaching.com.

If you don’t have a GPS, try letterboxing. Visit www.atlasquest.com and register—it's free. Then, type in your zip code and start discovering the treasures! Instructions on how to complete the quests are listed on the site. There are a surprising number of letterboxes in our own community. It is possible that you have passed many of them every day and not even noticed them. Happy hunting!

Paintfest pics

Here are a few of the photos from our 4th Annual Paintfest! This year's theme was Paintfest: Around the World. There was a fantastic variety of painting activities to choose from revolving around art in various countries. Over 160 children participated this year! Yet it never seemed crowded and I want to really thank all of those who spent the past two months planning this event and especially those who were able to join us and pitch in the day of the event.

7

A huge thank you goes, as always, to The Arc Otsego for the loan of their building (and for allowing us to get crazy with the paint in their rooms and hallways)! They've baked a lot of cookies for the kids and a big thank you goes to them on that account as well.

5

We had a lot of enthusiastic help from Oneonta Job Corps volunteers and the OHS Art Honor Society! One volunteer left us a note: 'Today I felt like a child again and I never thought that it would ever happen, thankyou.'

6

Of course, we couldn't do this without our Paintfest veterans, core volunteers and local artists - thanks again!
